Introduction

Welcome to my course portfolio for Social Foundations in Education and Technology.  This course portfolio displays my responses and reflections to a collection of peer-reviwed journal articles and books, a concept map illustrating my understanding of the material, and a final paper written that relates to one or more of these topics.  This course was taken to satisfy my social foundations requirement for my PhD at the University of South Florida in the Fall of 2006.  All the readings and deliverables were organized by Dr Sherman Dorn, associate professor of Department of Psychological and Social Foundations.

This directed readings course includes four major topics areas that relate to the social foundations of education and technology.  These major topic areas include: Social Stratification, Organizational Dynamics and School Structures, Sociology of Knowledge, and Social Construction of Technology.  Thus, the course portfolio is organized by topic area and deliverable:

  • Module 1 - Social Stratification
  • Module 2 - Organizational Dynamics and School Structures
  • Module 3 - Sociology of Knowledge
  • Module 4 - Social Construction of Technology
  • My Final Concept Map
  • My Final Paper
